The Club Statement

In 2004, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Motorcycle Club (VFW MC) was officially founded in San Diego to support fellow veterans and help bring younger service members into the VFW family.

For 20 years, our members volunteered thousands of hours, supported local Posts, and showed up for the veteran community — all while living the values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment.

Despite this record of service, the VFW National Organization issued a cease-and-desist and threatened legal action against its own lifetime members. The very veterans who stood beside them for two decades were told to shut down.

Out of respect for the law, we complied and reformed independently as the Foreign War Veterans Motorcycle Club (FWV MC).

We no longer support, endorse, or affiliate with the VFW.

Their decision to sever ties with dedicated veterans was heartbreaking.

We remain the original and only motorcycle club founded by Albert “Papa Bert” Butler.

No other group has splintered from us, and none are recognized by us.

Our mission continues — Veterans Helping Veterans — driven by the same core values that guided our military service.

We stand together. We serve each other. FWV MC.
